GRANBY MAN ARRESTED, ARRAIGNED ON CHARGES OF POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
BELCHERTOWN – A Granby man has been arrested and arraigned in Eastern Hampshire District Court for allegedly possessing images of child pornography, Attorney General Martha Coakley’s Office announced today.
David Linnehan, 37, is charged with Possession of Child Pornography (2 counts). Massachusetts State Police assigned to the AG’s Office, with assistance from the Granby Police Department, arrested Linnehan last night at his residence in Granby.
He was arraigned this morning in Eastern Hampshire District Court where he entered a plea of not guilty. Bail was set at $25,000 with the conditions that he surrender his passport, not leave the state of Massachusetts, be monitored via GPS, have no access to the Internet, have no contact with any child under the age of 18, and stay away from parks, daycares and schools. Judge Robert Pellegrini presided over today’s arraignment. Linnehan is due back in Eastern Hampshire District Court on May 6 for a pre-trial conference.

In March, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the AG’s Office obtained information from federal authorities about an e-mail account linked to a residence in the Granby area that they believed possessed child pornography images. Massachusetts State Police assigned to the AG’s Office obtained a search warrant for that residence. Investigators discovered that Linnehan allegedly possessed images of child pornography. Authorities executed the search warrant last night, after which Linnehan was placed under arrest without incident.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Timothy Wyse of Attorney General Coakley’s Cyber Crime Division. It was investigated by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Attorney General’s Office, investigators from the AG’s Computer Forensics Lab, members of the Massachusetts State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and agents from Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the Granby Police Department.
